Children may sometimes require interceptive treatment even before all the milk teeth have dropped. The above pictures illustrate some examples where the children require two phases of orthodontic treatment. The first phase usually involves breaking a habit, prevention of trauma to severely proclined teeth, cross-bite correction or growth modification to the jaws. The second phase of orthodontic treatment occurs only when all the adult teeth are in the mouth. There is no age limit and some of our oldest patients are in their 60s. As long as the gums and oral health are in good condition, there is no reason why adults cannot have braces.
