Orthodontics is the specialised branch of dentistry that treats malocclusion (ie misaligned jaws and teeth). Orthodontics can be done on both children and adults. Our clinic also offers various types of aesthetic braces.

Children may sometimes require interceptive treatment even before all the milk teeth have dropped. The above pictures illustrate some examples where the children require two phases of orthodontic treatment. The first phase usually involves breaking a habit, prevention of trauma to severely proclined teeth, cross-bite correction or growth modification to the jaws. The second phase of orthodontic treatment occurs only when all the adult teeth are in the mouth.

 Orthodontics in Adults
Orthodontics in adults is not only possible, it presents an opportunity for many people to have a nice smile after missing out on orthodontic treatment in their younger days. There is no age limit and some of our oldest patients are in their 60s. As long as the gums and oral health are in good condition, there is no reason why adults cannot have braces. Of course there are cosmetic options like ceramic braces and lingual braces for the more discerning adults.

 Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are braces which are placed behind the teeth. They offer the patient invisible treatment mechanics without compromising on control and accuracy of tooth movements.

 Surgical Orthodontics
For a small group of adult patients, orthodontics combined with orthognathic surgery is required to achieve the desired dental and facial changes.
